Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) are designed to provide workers and emergency personnel with important safety information to ensure safe handling of hazardous chemicals and appropriate spill response. SDSs are designed to provide proper procedures for handling or working with a particular substance. SDS's include information such as physical data (melting point, boiling point, flash point etc.), toxicity, health effects, first aid, reactivity, storage, disposal, protective equipment, and spill/leak procedures. Stony Brook University SDS system provides the campus community with a database of campus specific chemicals. The program also comes with a library of SDSs which can be printed. If a SDS is not in the library, the user can request an SDS through the web page.
