CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services)

CAPS provide inclusive access to on-and-off campus psychological and psychiatric services to help students grow and flourish by hearing them as they wish to be understood. CAPS offer vitally important resources, prevention, outreach, and training programs for the campus community to facilitate psychological well being, academic success and safety on campus.

CARE Team (Consult Assess Respond Educate)

The CARE Team is a university-based, multidisciplinary team committed to maintaining a safe and secure working and learning environment for Stony Brook University students and our campus community.  The CARE Team addresses student behavior that may pose a threat to health and safety or disrupts University activity. The CARE Team responds to reports of these concerns through an individualized, coordinated, and thoughtful process that is intended to gather relevant information and intervene when appropriate.

OEA (Office of Equity and Access)

OIDE is charged with ensuring that the Stony Brook University experience provides equal opportunity and is safe, welcoming and free from discrimination. OIDE serves the entire campus community, including Stony Brook University, Stony Brook Medicine, the Long Island State Veterans Home and Stony Brook Southampton. OIDE website has a wealth of training resources on sexual misconduct and discrimination. Also, one can file reports online, by phone or in person at the OIDE office.

SASC (Student Accessibility Support Center)

The Student Accessibility Support Center is the designated support service center to help students enable students with disabilities to develop their academic potential, by making their academic experience accessible. In addition to arranging accommodations, a major part of the mission of the SASC is to encourage students with disabilities to achieve a high level of autonomy at Stony Brook and far beyond.

The Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards receives, investigates, and resolves alleged violations of the Code of Student Responsibility involving (non-academic) misconduct by all students (undergraduate, graduate, professional students etc.)

The Stony Brook University Police Department is a fully accredited law enforcement agency recognized by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS). It is the primary law enforcement agency for the Stony Brook and Southampton campuses.

TimelyCare is a new telehealth platform that provides 24/7 virtual access to medical and mental health services, right from your mobile device or computer. Best of all, this service is for all Stony Brook  undergraduate or graduate students, taking online or in-person classes, and is included as part of the Health and Counseling broad based fees.
