Winter Aid
Generally, there is no additional need-based financial aid available specifically for the Winter Session. However, Pell-eligible recipients who are enrolled for less than 12 credits during the fall term may be eligible for additional Pell Grant based on their combined fall and winter enrollment. Pell Grant recipients enrolled full-time for the fall semester receive their maximum Pell Grant during the fall, and therefore will not have additional eligibility based on winter enrollment. No action would be needed from the student as the Financial Aid Office will review your account and award you the additional Pell Grant if available.
Students who are enrolled at least half time or more (6 credits) in fall and spring terms may be eligible to use their Federal Direct Loans to potentially help cover the winter charges.
- A student can request the remaining of their student loans for the fall and spring
terms to cover the charges.
- If a student has a pending refund from their financial aid in the fall or spring terms, our Student Financial Services Office may be able to apply the refund to their winter charges after such aid is disbursed.
Please Note: Bursar will consider your winter bill as unpaid until the funds are disbursed to your account and applied to your charges. Anticipated fall/spring aid cannot be used to cover a winter bill.
Students looking to cover the costs of the winter term can also take out a private loan with a lender that allows for the shortened loan period and credit of enrollment. Students can view our private loan section of the webpage to review some lenders and reach out to the lender with specific questions
